Jack and Lisa Whatley

Our story

Howdy!

We are Jack and Lisa Whatley. Our story begins on Jacks family farm in a cotton field out by Corpus Christi, Texas. I (Lisa) worked harvest season while Jack interned for the summer at TAMU in the year 2020. Luckily, Jack went home for a weekend and met me on one of his dad and mom cotton fields. From there we went back to A&M. I finished a Masters in Agriculture and Jack finished his senior year at A&M in Horticulture with a minor in Enology. We both graduated (WHOOP), moved to the Hill country, and got married, then moved back to farm.

Currently, we both live in the Coastal Bend as newlyweds. I (Jack) am a Farmer and Lisa is an elementary school teacher. Lisa has always had a love for photography in livestock, farming, and ranching. I have had a love for photography in aviation, people, and nature.

Together, we make the perfect team in helping each other capture precious life moments.

Algodón- Cotton

Algodón is the Spanish term for Cotton. Algodón has a specific meaning in both Jack and I lives. Algodón is the reason why Jack and I are here today. My grandparents moved to the U.S. from Mexico to pick cotton. Jacks family continues to generationally plant and grow cotton. Most importantly, if it weren’t for a cotton field we would have not met. That is why we named our photography business Algodón Photography.

"When a moment in front of me appears to be particularly special, whether it be by beauty or experience, I capture it. I usually find a reason to justify taking that photo - symmetry, or color or contrast - and it's my hope that my photography sheds light onto what I see and do on a daily basis."
